Theatrical Performer (Dudson Factory)

£100.00

A delightful, beautifully coloured and very well modelled figure of a theatrical performer standing cross-legged on a green rococo base. He wears a green hat, striped doublet, breeches and hose. He rests his right hand on a stump and in that hand he holds a mask. His left hand rests on his hip.

The figure is very nicely made with vivid colours typical of the Dudson Factory to which this figure is attributed.

The figure is in generally good condition and displays beautifully, though I note the following minor flaws. There is a stress hairline crack around the figure’s right wrist but it is stable and intact. There is a small, discreet chip to the left hand. There are some tiny old nibbles to the brim of the hat. There is a stable firing flaw on the right of the man’s neck, and another to the back. There is a decoration flaw to the mask and general loss of gilt.

The figure has a pair which (at the time of listing) is also available from this website, but it is decorated in more neutral colours so is being sold separately. The Hardings record the pair as being 6” high, but the versions available here are 7.5”. I include a photo of the two figures together for illustrative purposes.
