Aidan, Rowan Cottage Antiques’ proprietor, has been collecting 19th century Staffordshire figures for nearly ten years. His interest in the hobby began quite unexpectedly and at the behest of his wife, Bryony, whose ‘magpie’ tendencies eventually rubbed off on him.
Aidan’s primary collecting interest is Staffordshire animal figures. His collection is modest - certainly in comparison with many of the great British and American collections - but his love and fascination for Staffordshire figures is anything but.
Gradually, Aidan developed voracious appetites for other mediums of English pottery including Pearlware, Lustreware, and Salt Glaze Stoneware.
Aidan founded Rowan Cottage Antiques in order to help other newcomers to enjoy the thrill of collecting - with confidence and at an accessible price. He hopes he can also serve the needs of more established and experienced collectors.
