Theatrical Performer

£50.00

A fun and jaunty rare figure depicting a male theatrical performer or dancer.

The moustachioed gentleman wears a blue jacket tied with an orange sash, peach coloured breeches, an orange and green plaid sash around the shoulder, and a four-point red hat with a green feather. He stands with his legs crossed and his hands on his hips. He stands on a circular base with a gilt band. He is modelled leaning slightly forward.

The figure is in very good restored condition with professional restoration to the neck and the hat. There are some manufacturing imperfections (to the centre of the plaid sash and the back of the right elbow), and there is a degree of kiln debris in the glaze (particularly the face, sash, breeches, and base). While not perfect, this is a very interesting a scarce figure, full of joy and character.

Reference: Possibly unrecorded

Date: c. 1850
