A fine figure depicting the Admiral Horatio Nelson slain between two of his men on the quarterdeck of the HMS Victory.
One-armed Nelson, his eyes closed, is slumped between two of his men who seem to be comforting him. The wooden boards of the quarterdeck are clearly defined.
Interestingly, the sails of the HMS Victory are modelled on the back of the figure. Similar examples can be found with the hull clearly modelled as well, and some are even decorated.
This is a figure of excellent quality with superb definition and decoration, including striking gilt features.
The figure is in excellent condition. The black enamels of the men’s hair has been retouched, and there is a superficial hairline firing flaw across the front of the base.
