Stag (Dudson Factory)

£70.00

A charming a delicate little porcelain figure depicting a recumbent stag under a tree. This figure was produced as part of a pair (with a hind) by the Dudson Factory.

The stag lies in front of a tree made up of three white and gilt bocage leaves (supported by a larger, more robust structure) and a single red flower. This very sweet little figure is a triumph of simplicity and delicacy.

The figure presents well but there is a visible stress hairline to the right leaf and a small chip at the top of the central leaf. There are some negligible little nibbles to the rims of the leaves and to the flower too, and some light rubbing to the glaze and gilt. Finding one of these Dudson deer figures with all three of its leaves present is quite unusual due to their high fragility, and while this example is not perfect it nevertheless makes for a lovely display, with the stag itself - including its delicate legs - in good condition.
