Seated Spaniel

£55.00

A very sweet brown and white spaniel seated on a white a gilt cushion covered with cobalt blue.

The spaniel is nicely modelled and decorated with brown spots and dabs. It wears a gilt collar and padlock. The base features a cobalt blue cover with gilt spots around the rim, and beneath that is a white moulded base with gilt highlights.

The figure is offered in fair, restored condition. The dog itself is in reasonable condition with a firing flaw running down its chest and a cluster of hairline firing flaws on its outward-facing ear. There may be some repair to the ear but it has been discretely carried out. There is some non-professional restoration to the white structure of the cushion - part of it has been rebuilt and an approximation of the affected gilt has been reapplied. The result is not professional but reasonably coherent, restoring some balance to the appearance of the figure. Aside from these imperfections, the crazing is fairly heavy but the figure displays well despite its limitations.
