Robert Burns

£195.00

An exceptionally fine, large and desirable figure depicting the Scottish poet Robert Burns.

Burns stands with book in his right hand which rests on a tree stump. He holds a hat in his left hand. He wears a cobalt jacket, pink breeches, yellow and magenta striped waistcoat, and a plaid around his shoulders. Thistles grow up the side of the trunk. The title of the figure - ROBt BURNS’ - is written in stylised raised black capitals on the irregularly shaped base.

The figure makes for a very impressive display and is probably the best titled Burns portrait figure recorded. It is offered in very good condition with only a very small superficial chip to the corner of the plaid by Burns’ left hand. There is a chip to the base (viewer’s right) but this is under the slip and glaze so is a modelling error rather than post-production damage.
