RESERVED - Robert Burns (Alpha Factory)

£145.00
sold out

A very fine figure generally accepted to depict the Scottish poet Robert Burns, attributed to the Alpha Factory.

Burns is modelled sitting wearing a long cobalt jacket, yellow waistcoat, pink breeches, and orange necktie. He holds an open orange item in his hands - possibly a snuffbox.

The figure is beautifully modelled and decorated with all the vividness and clarity one would expect from the Alpha Factory.

I cannot detect any signs of restoration. There is a firing flaw to the beck of the left shoulder.

Reference: P. D. Gordon Pugh, Staffordshire Portrait Figures, p. H501, pl. 18, fig. 56

Height: 7.5”

Date: c. 1850
