Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, and Infant Child

£75.00

A group figure depicting Queen Victoria sitting on a throne with an infant (probably either the Princess Royal or Prince of Wales) in her arms, and Prince Albert standing beside them with his arm around the Queen.

The Queen’s head, Prince Albert’s right leg (which is crossed over his left), and Prince Albert’s left hand are independently modelled, as is the crown finial atop the throne. Prince Albert holds an object - possibly a rattle or flower.

The figure is simply but effectively decorated and makes of a well composed scene. This particular piece has extensive provenance.

The figure displays excellently and is in very good restored condition. There is some professional restoration to the crown finial, and a professional repair to Prince Albert’s neck. A lateral crack to the rim of the underside of the base has been filled to reinforce and stabilise the base, but this has no effect on the visual appeal of the figure. There is some flaking to the orange enamel of the carpet and the figure is fairly heavily crazed.
