An attractive, rare, and unusual white and gilt figure depicting Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, her arm through his.
This figure’s decoration is simple yet striking with subtle flesh-tones, black features, and gilding which is in very good order.
Interestingly, according to Pugh, this is one of only three recorded figures of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert together (the overwhelming majority being separated pairs). Pugh records that this figure can be found both in full colour and - as in this case - in white and gilt.
The figure is in good condition. There is a small chip to the Queen’s nose and a firing flaw across her neck - but this is stable and the neck has not at any time been broken. There is superficial chip to the front of the base which seems to predate - at least in part - glazing.

Height: 8”
Date: c. 1840s
Provenance: Sticker for: Christie’s, British and Continental Ceramics including Staffordshire, 21st November 2002, possibly Lot 172, which is not recorded in Christie’s results list online
