A delightful figure of a young man standing with a small horse, a dog, and a recumbent stag. He holds what looks to be a hunting horn in his left hand indicating that the man may be a hunter, although the composition of the figure, the diminutive scale of the horse, and the horse’s ornate saddle cloth suggest the subject may be theatrical.
The figure is in very good condition with no damage or repair, only some light flaking in places.
While the subject is unclear, this remains a thoroughly appealing figure with great depth and character.
Another version of this figure exists with the man’s left arm at his side and a differently textured ‘background’.
