Guardian Angel with the Royal Children

£150.00

A lovely a very nicely decorated figure depicting a guardian angel standing over the sleeping Royal Children.

The angel - wearing white robes with cobalt tipped and gilded wings - stands with her hands over the peacefully slumbering forms of the two Royal Children who lie in a an elaborate bed with a cobalt and gilt cover.

This is not a particularly rare figure but this example is especially well decorated and one of the better examples I have seen. The figure is based on an engraving of The Guardian Angel but it is the potter who has adapted that scene to royalty.

The figure is in excellent condition. There are some very small flakes to the black over-glaze enamel and a tiny superficial chip to part of the bed frame on the right hand side. There is some slight fading to the gilt in places.
