A charming small figure of Crimean War interest depicting Florence Nightingale, standing with her hand on a pile of books atop of a pillar.
This desirable, uncommon little figure is a miniaturised version of a larger, titled figure. Pugh records that most such examples are ‘late’. Indeed, based on the face and yellow band, it is likely that this figure is a late 19th century example.
It is offered in excellent original condition with no damage or repair. There are some very light glaze-deep firing flaws in places and some negligible flaking to the books and her black shawl. A delightful and appealing example.
