A lively and well coloured figure of theatrical or literary form, possibly depicting the pirate chief Conrad from Lord Byron’s poem The Corsair (although this has not been confidently verified).
This figure is probably the work of the Alpha Factory.
The figure is full of energy and movement. It is beautifully modelled and full of bold, vivid colouring.
The figure displays well but the right hand has been restored, as has the item in the figure’s right hand (which has been incorrectly restored). The restored scroll is much larger than in the original figure. The restoration is not professional but it does rebalance the figure. There is also a small, superficial rub to the nose and some flaking to the orange and green enamels.
