Chinese Flower Seller (Dudson)
A very fine, rare, and beautifully modelled figure depicting a Chinese flower seller, probably produced by the Dudson Factory in the 1830s.
The decoration on the man’s outfit is exceptionally detailed and carefully applied, with heavy gilt and a broad palette.
The figure presents well and is in generally good condition though there is some minor loss to the very delicate porcelaneous flowers - largely intact but with some missing petals. The tip of the man’s nose has been restored. Despite these imperfections, the figure looks fantastic on display and is a terrific example of the vibrancy, care, and attention to detail which are hallmarks of Dudson figures of the ‘transitional’ period.
