SOLD - Boy with Papers
A sweet and very interesting early Staffordshire pearlware figure of a boy or young man wearing a dark jacket, red checked waistcoat, yellow breeches, and a black brimmed hat. In his right hand he holds a sheet of paper, and he carries a stack of papers under his left arm. He is modelled simply on an uneven colourful base atop a square base with a single red band - reminiscent of numerous figures of this period.
The figure depicts a roadside vendor.
The figure is offered in very good condition with no obvious damage or signs of repair or restoration. There are some very small spots of flaking, but none considerable. As ever, I cannot guarantee that there has not been professional restoration of some kind, but if there has it is of such a high standard as to be entirely discreet.
Reference: Myrna Schkolne, Vol. 1
Height: 6.25”
Date: c. 1820
