Begging Spaniel Jug

£95.00

A lovely 19th century Staffordshire jug in the form of a begging black and white spaniel wearing a tricorn hat.

The jug is in good condition with no significant damage. There are two small chips around the base (as shown in the images) and there is some loss to the overglaze enamel floral decoration of the tricorn hat and the yellow rim.

Begging spaniel jugs have been hugely popular over the years and there is a great number of fakes and reproductions in circulation. This is an authentic jug, probably from the 1860s.
