Angel with Two Little Girls
A beautiful and very rare Staffordshire figure depicting an angel standing with two little girls.
The angel wearing a pink and white dress with gilt decorations has outspread white feathery wings (also with gilt details). Her two hands are places lovingly on the heads of two little girls wearing white a gilt dresses. They stand on a stylistic, cloud-like white base with gilt swirls.
The figure is in good condition with no damage. There is some enamel flaking to the figures’ hair - particularly the angel’s - and there are some spots of kiln grime here and there. There is a light firing flaw along the angel’s right wing but this not noticeable, and a deeper firing flaw across the small of her back which is not visible from the front.
This is a tender, ethereal scene - a tender depiction of love and childhood and a scarce figure.

Height: 9.5”
Date: c. 1870
