A fine and unusual Sunderland pink lustre jug attributed to Dixon, Phillips & Co., Garrison Pottery.
The jug features a hand-painted transfer of a Masonic building and various Masonic imagery. Beneath the building is a verse from The Entered Apprentice Song. To one side is a transfer with a floral border and the popular Victorian poem beginning Swiftly See Each Moment Flies. To the other side is a similar floral bordered transfer with the poem Friendship, Love and Truth.
The jug is in generally good condition. There is some very light scuffing in places, such as on the handle. There is a very thin stress break at the bottom of the handle but this is fairly discreet and relatively stable.
Height: 8.3”
Date: c. 1860 - 1865
