Staffordshire Religious Nursery Plate, 'Elijah Fed By Ravens' (c. 1840s)

£35.00

A lovely pearlware nursery plate of octagonal form, probably made in Staffordshire, featuring a green monochromatic transfer depicting two ravens bringing food to Elijah as told in the First Book of Kings. The title of the transfer - ‘ELIJAH FED BY RAVENS.’ - appears beneath it.

The sides of the plate are decorated with moulded flowers and the rim with a moulded rope-like texture.

The plate is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, or loss. The transfer is in very good order. There is some light wear to the glaze and moulded features (particularly the rope rim) commensurate with age, and some spots of discolouration.

Diameter: 7.5”

Date: c. 1840s
