A fabulous Staffordshire pottery plaque commemorating the death of the founder of Methodism, John Wesley (1703-1791).
It features a black border frame (potted in the form of a picture frame) around a black transfer portrait of Wesley and the words ‘Reverend John Wesley AM: Aged 87’ (the age at which he died).
The plaque was likely made in Staffordshire (rather than a North East pottery) around 1835.
