Prattware Nursery Plate, 'My Sister' (c. 1820)

A delightful early 19th century pottery child’s plate with a moulded floral border decorated with Pratt colour enamels and a charming transfer.

The transfer depicts a boy and girl walking in a garden with the text:

‘Who was it when we both were young | First prais’d me with her artless tongue | And on my neck delighted hung | MY SISTER’

This lovely plate displays beautifully. There is wear and rubbing to the inside of the rim and some of the moulded elements and an old repair to the rim at about one o’clock. There is some crazing to the glaze.
