Pink Lustre North Shields Jug, Sailor's Farewell, Carr & Patton (c. 1840)

£145.00

A fabulous North East pottery pink lustre jug attributed to Carr & Patton, North Shields.

This large jug features a colourful transfer of the Sailor’s Farewell and two poetic verses. The transfers have colourful borders and green ‘teardrop’ patterns similar to those of Maling. The pink lustre is vivid and swirling.

The jug is in fair condition though there are some signs of age and wear and a repair. There is nibbling around the rim of the jug and some scratches to the body. The jug has been repaired and the repair is most apparent on the base which has been refilled. Such imperfections should be visible in the images.

Nevertheless, this is a lovely example of an early Victorian North East pottery lustre jug.
