RESERVED - Large Parian Ware Jug (c. 1875)

£75.00
sold out

A large, well made and very attractive Parian ware jug.

The jug is decorated with relief moulded grape vines, and the glazed handle is fashioned as a twisting branch. The inside of the jug is fully glazed.

The jug is in very good structural condition with no chips or cracks but for a very small half-filled chip to the underside of the rim of the base. As is often the case with unglazed Parian ware, there are some areas of discolouration where debris has gathered in the very detailed pattern. One leaf has a small smear of silver.

The maker is unknown but the British Registration Mark (‘registry lozenge’) is visible on the base.
