First Period Worcester Baluster Jug (c. 1770)
A very fine and rare early Worcester reeded baluster jug featuring a colourful floral pattern similar to that seen in ‘Compagnie des Indes’ pattern pieces.
It features bright and delicate floral motifs on the reeded body, and a turquoise blue and floral pattern to the interior of the rim. The rim, rim pattern, and handle are decorated liberally with gilt.
This is a beautiful example of 18th century Worcester porcelain, made and decorated with real quality and timeless elegance. It is in very good condition with no damage or apparent restoration. The handle of the jug has, however, been applied slightly crookedly, but this is a folly of manufacturing.
Height: 5”
Date: c. 1770
