An exceptional and rare Caughley fluted porcelain tea bowl and saucer, abundantly gilded with a pattern of ferns and a central sunflower motif. The rims of both pieces are decorated with thick gilded lines.
Both pieces are in excellent condition. There are minor nicks to the feet of both pieces and some light wear to the gilt, but both pieces present beautifully and are in unusually good condition.
An old dealer’s label is photographed but I have not been able to identify them.
Tea Bowl Height: 2”
Tea Bowl Diameter: 3.5”
Saucer Diameter: 5.25”
Date: c. 1790
